Abstract

This study conducts a comparative analysis of discourses on ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer) in news media and social media to explore the process of societal acceptance and shifts in public perception. Using big data analysis techniques, data were collected and analyzed focusing on two key periods: the initiallaunch of ChatGPT in November 2022 and the introduction of the paid version(Pro) in 2024. The results revealed that news media primarily emphasizedChatGPT's technological innovations and economic potential, framing itpositively, while social media focused on users' practical experiences andeveryday applications. Additionally, differences in discourse between the twoperiods highlighted changes in public interest from the early adoption stage tothe commercialization phase. This study provides valuable insights into how newtechnologies are socially accepted over time and offers practical implicationsfor developing effective technology promotion strategies and policymaking.
